Community Pottery Studio Coordinator
Approximately 16 hours per week
The Community Pottery Studio Coordinator supports the daily operations of the studio, ensures a safe and welcoming environment for members, and assists with the smooth functioning of classes and open studio sessions.
Primary Responsibilities
Open Studio Support
Staff the studio during open studio hours to answer questions and support members.
Ensure proper and safe use of equipment, tools, and materials (non-instructional role).
Kiln Operations
Load and unload kilns to maintain efficient firing schedules.
Maintain accurate kiln-firing logs and records.
Perform waxing and glazing on pottery as needed.
Studio Cleanliness & Safety
Promote and uphold cleanliness standards by ensuring members clean their work areas.
Conduct regular deep cleaning, including floors, clay traps, sinks, countertops, shelving, and other surfaces to maintain a dust-free environment.
Maintain a safe workspace by monitoring hazard areas and addressing issues promptly.
Equipment Care & Maintenance
Monitor the condition of kilns, wheels, slab rollers, and other studio equipment.
Perform basic maintenance tasks such as shelf scraping and kiln washing, vacuuming kilns, and adjusting wheel foot pedals.
Report major repair needs (e.g., kiln elements, relays, electrical components) to the FPM Director for service coordination.
Supplies & Materials Management
Track and plan for supply needs including clay, glazes, kiln wash, wax resist, cones, tools, and brushes.
Submit supply orders to the FPM Director for approval.
Perform clay recycling and glaze mixing as part of routine studio operations.
Instructor Coordination
Communicate with class instructors to ensure the studio is prepared and equipped for classes and workshops.
Administration, Communication, & Promotion
Monitor and communicate with members and students through KilnFire App and Email.
Basic Administrative tasks related to studio operations.
Act as studio ambassador during events and promotional opportunities.
