Our Mission:

Our mission is to preserve and promote the rich heritage of Northeast Georgia's folk pottery by celebrating the artistry, livelihoods, and histories of local potters. We foster appreciation through our museum, educational programs, hands-on experiences, exhibitions, tourism initiatives, and active community engagement.

Our Vision:

Our vision is to be a leading cultural institution that connects the past and present through the vibrant legacy of folk pottery. We aim to inspire future generations to explore, learn about, and appreciate this unique art form and its vital role in enriching our community’s cultural landscape

Our Values:

We recognize and value the perspectives and experiences represented by our esteemed area potters, community members, visitors, students, tourists, museum curator, leadership team, staff, and volunteers. Together, these voices enrich our cultural initiatives and foster a deeper connection to our heritage.

1.Elevating Our Museum Experience while Enhancing our Folk Pottery Collection: Our initiatives include hosting a physical museum, a virtual online museum replication, and a traveling exhibit designed to broaden our reach and showcase our region's rich folk pottery heritage. We offer visitors free access to our world-class museum. We enhance our permanent folk pottery display with unique rotating exhibits every six months and we host an annual outdoor Folk Pottery Festival.

2. Delivering Educational Programming and Pottery Instruction: We provide hands-on pottery and ceramic instruction through studio classes, workshops, live demonstrations, lectures, K-12 and collegiate partnerships, and theatrical performances to educate students, tourists, and the public about the history, techniques, and significance of folk pottery.

3. Cultivating Tourism and Community Engagement: We aim to attract tourists to our museum and the surrounding region, thereby strengthening community ties and promoting folk pottery as a vibrant living tradition. To achieve this, we build partnerships with community members, local government entities, educational institutions, historical societies, Chambers of Commerce, and various other organizations.
