Volunteer Docent Program

Share Your Love of History with Our Visitors

Do you love history? Do you enjoy engaging with visitors and sharing stories that bring the past to life? We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to train as docents for the Folk Pottery Museum, the Sautee Nacoochee History Museum, and the African American Heritage Cabin.

Volunteer docents will receive group training along with informational packets to study and reference. Once trained, docents may be called upon to guide visitors and groups during festivals at the Center, as well as for scheduled guided tours, including tour bus groups, senior travel groups, and school groups.

Our goal is to build a strong pool of knowledgeable volunteers who can help us grow and support our history education and interpretation efforts. This is an especially exciting year at the Sautee Nacoochee Center as we prepare for the reopening of the newly renovated Sautee Nacoochee History Museum.

If you are interested in participating in the docent training program, please fill out the form below and Emily DeFoor will follow up in the coming months with additional details about the docent training program.

We hope you’ll consider joining us in sharing the history of our community!
