Liz Bloodgood

Cataula, GA

Liz Bloodgood’s fascination with ceramic forms and firing techniques began as a collector, focusing on southern functional and folk pottery.  In 2007 she was gifted wheel throwing lessons at a local community arts center.  In 2008, she participated in her first wood firing at Jon Brinley’s old kiln in Midland, GA.  She has now participated in over 40 firings in 5 different kilns, and assisted in building kilns as well.  Along the way, Liz has gained invaluable experience and knowledge of the wood fire process with barrel arch and groundhog style kilns, while cultivating her skills with throwing and altering miniatures, functional and folk pottery forms.

Liz has been blessed by the many friendships she has developed with other dedicated wood fire potters, and considers the wood-firing process a true labor of love and a great bonding experience.
